Rucklings

Where mended things wake up.

A cozy game and a storybook series · coming soon

The story

One blustery night, the window blew open…

…and the wind scattered Rook's friends across the neighbourhood. Now the Hearthlight, the little brass lantern that glows when everyone is home, has gone dim.

So Rook, a small mender with very big eyebrows, picks up a lantern and sets off. One house at a time, Rook reads the room, arranges a clever chain of critters, and makes one glorious slingshot launch to bring each friend home.

“Every Ruckling was once something loved and mended.”

The household

Meet the Rucklings

Rook in a plum stitched coat beside three cream Lints: Bobbin with a red thread, Thimble in a brass thimble helmet, and sleepy Patch with a flowered patch
  • Rook

The mender. Teal, fuzzy and never without a needle and thread. Rook fixes everything, and goes after anyone who gets lost.

  • Bobbin

Curious, wanders off, and trails a loose red thread that snags on everything. Handy, if you're the one doing the finding.

  • Thimble

Tiny, bossy and completely fearless. Wears a brass thimble as a helmet. In charge of absolutely nothing.

  • Patch

The biggest, sleepiest and cuddliest. Falls asleep anywhere, and usually has to be carried home.

A painted neighbourhood at dusk: a cottage with a leafy roof, a house built from giant books, a bakery, a windmill and a manor on the hill

The neighbourhood

Every house is a whole world

The houses belong to the Big Folk, who are never seen. To a Ruckling, a book is a cliff, a spool is a pillar and a teacup is a pond.

  • Rook's cottageHome, where the Hearthlight glows a little brighter with every friend brought back.
  • The Bookbinder's HouseTowering shelves, sleepy bells and a breeze that comes from somewhere.
  • The BakeryWarm ovens and soft landings, just before dawn.
  • The WindmillSails turning at golden hour, and a wind that never quite sits still.
  • The ManorMoonlit, quiet and full of reflections.
